Uppena is a Telugu family drama TV serial that aired on Gemini TV. The plot revolves around the life of Janani who is the daughter or Parvati and Chakravarthy. They both left their family to marry each other as their parents were not supportive of their marriage. Janani was born to them and always lived under the umbrella of her father. In college, she became best friends with Gowtham and this fact was not liked by her father. Soon after, Gowtham had to leave the college and this made Janani upset. She recovers quickly and studies hard to become the topper of the college and starts living with her sister and her cousins. Gogineni Sivaram, a business tycoon brings a proposal of marriage for Janani.
He wants her to get married to his brother Abhiram. Although Janani did not like the proposal, she agreed to marry upon finding out about Abhiram’s good nature. The females in the Gogineni family are well-educated but are not allowed to work and have to stay as housewives. Janani was not aware of the misogynistic background of the Gogineni family and though that the females are working. Janani marries Abhiram and later finds out about the treatment done to the women in the family. Abhiram is a part of the family but is completely opposite to them and tries to comfort Janani. How will she make an identity for herself in a family like this?
