Rathnam decides to leave the house. He wants his mother and sister to be in the house. His friend Bala also offers Rathnam to stay with him, but Rathnam refuses, not wanting to abandon his family.

Joe finds an injured and desolate Rathnam sitting on the streets. Rathnam opens up to Joe about his complicated relationship with his father and how he has lost his home and family now. Joe consoles Rathnam, and the conversation turns philosophical about parental control, love, and affection. Later, Joe realizes Rathnam has been thinking about her constantly, indicating a budding romance angle.
