The drama aired on the Independent Television Network (ITN) and aired on Saturdays and Sundays at 8:30 p.m. The narrative centres on two contrasting characters. Poori resides in a slum village with her bedridden father. Araliya lives in a bungalow. Maata frequently visits Poori and treats her like a sister. The village is also home to Maali, a stubborn yet kindhearted young woman, and her boyfriend, Pubba. Together, they assist fellow villagers during difficult times. Pubba works at Madhavas garage alongside his friends Anas and Kapila. Maali often come to visit him there. Araliya commits suicide following persistent conflicts with her sister-in-law over dowry matters. Her brother Sapumal, was shocked by her death and uncertain about how to inform their father. They decide to secretly bury her. When Araliyas father visits the bungalow, the family deceives him by claiming Araliya is merely ill. Meanwhile, Aari, one of the few wealthy residents in the village, marries a woman named Suddi. Pubba continues his pursuit of Maali, often visiting her with his friends. During this time, Anas develops feelings for Maali but remains hesitant to express them. In a separate incident, Poori is caught by police for illegally tapping Arrack (a local alcoholic beverage).

While attempting to escape, she accidentally hides in Sapumals vehicle and falls asleep. Unaware of her presence, Sapumal drives to his bungalow. When Punchi Nona discovers Poori in the car, she raises an alarm. The family then brings Poori into the bungalow and, remarkably, dresses her as Araliya. Confused and helpless, Poori complies with their instructions. The household appears pleased with the deception, believing Poori to be Araliya, though Poori remains unhappy with the situation. Meanwhile, Madhava becomes concerned about Pooris disappearance and organizes a search party with Maali, Pubba, Anas, and Kapila, but their efforts prove unsuccessful. Village rumors suggest Poori has eloped with a wealthy man, but Madhava maintains hope for her return and waits patiently. Months later, Aari enters politics, followed by Madhava. Pubba proposes marriage to Maali. But she consistently refuses him. Pubba was then confused and frustrated. He asked her for an explanation. Maali finally reveals her reasons for declining his proposal.
