Jagath Manuwarna Kodithuwakku is a Sri Lankan Actor, Scriptwriter, Media Presenter, Movie Director, and a Politician. He was born in the year 1980 in Kandy, Sri Lanka. He completed his graduation from Delthota Central College, Kandy. He studied drama at the Tower Hall Drama School, Colombo. He debuted as an actor in the 2010 adult drama film Karma, directed by Prasanna Jayakodi. His other films include Nikini Wessa, Ayu, Warigapojja, Kaala, Kodi Gaha Yata Kodi Gaha Yata is a Sri Lankan TV series in the Si >> Read More... , Rahas Kiyana Kandu, Ginnen Upan Seethala, etc. His first short film as a director called Speck of Fire, was released in 2006.
The film went on to win Best Short Film at the Guerilla Short Film Festival in Sri Lanka. His second short film, Water Lily, also won the Best Short Film and the Human Rights Award at the Agenda 14 Short Film Festival in 2011. His first feature-length film, Whispering Mountains, has been selected for IFFR 2023. Jagath became publicly active in politics, first in 2014 when he became a member of the Aluth Parapura.
