His marriage is falling apart due to his suspicions about his wife, Wathsala (played by Kalani Dodanthenna). He doubts that she is having a relationship with his brother (played by Pubudhu Chaturanga). The show explores how doubt can poison a relationship, even when there might be genuine love present. Wathsala attempted to salvage their marriage, but Suren's suspicions and lack of trust created an increasingly bitter situation. Eventually, she seeks release from their marriage through the courts, saying, "I don't understand to forgive me for that accusation" and "Release me from this bond." Suren had a deep love for her. He has confused possessiveness and doubt with genuine love. He recognizes too late that his doubt was a distorted manifestation of his love. The story explores how quickly doubt can destroy a marriage, despite the genuine affection that may exist between partners.
