Samanalee Fonseka is a well-known Sri Lankan Actress and Model in cinema and television. She was born on 23 November 1981. She studied at St. Paul’s Girls School and Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya, Colombo. She got her B. A degree from the University of Colombo and earned a graduate diploma in fine arts from the University of Peradeniya.His father is Ananda Fonseka. She has three sisters and two brothers, all are in the cinema industry. She is related to various actors and actresses in Film Industry.

At the age of five, she began her acting career as a child artist from the debut film Paradisaya by Dinesh Priyasad. She has also played the leading role in telefilm Suriya and Vinshthi. She became famous for her performance in the film Akasa Kusum. Later, she played challenging roles in Motor Bicycle, Premaya Nam, Nimnayaka Hudakalawa, and Dewena Vihangun. As an actress, she won various awards for her outstanding performances in the field of acting. She won the Best Actress Award at the State Drama Festival in 2004.

In 2018, she received the Best Actress Award in many national film festivals for her role in the film, Premaya Nam. For her acting, she won a Special Jury Award for her role in Motor Bicycle. In 2018, she received the Presidential Film Award and Signis Sri Lankan Award for the film Davena Vihagun.In 2021, she appeared in the Raffealla Fernando Celebrity Calendar with many other Sri Lankan celebrities. Apart from acting, she is also a social activist who stands against racism, gender inequality, and other social issues in Sri Lanka.
