During his school days, Pubudu performed in various dramas and plays like Mahadana Muththa and Julius Caesar. He also made his theatre group in class 12 and performed in theatrical productions like Miriguwa and Histhanak. Pubudu began his career on the stage show Trojan Kaanthavo, directed by Dharmasiri Bandaranayake.
