Janam debate is a discussion program that airs on Janam TV, a Malayalam news and entertainment channel, every day from 7:30 pm to 9 pm. The reruns of the episode are also aired from 12:30 am to 2 am. Janam debate features a virtual discussion among the reputable leaders of the society, all from different fields. The show opens with the host giving brief details about that day’s happenings and is followed by an in-depth description of the topic being discussed in that episode. The topics are mainly related to the latest developments over the country and issues attracting a significant amount of media attention.
The host gathers a panel of dignitaries on a video conference, most of whom are politicians, ex-leaders of the society, government officials and retired personnel from the defense services. Each of them is allowed to express their views on the issue before the debate starts. It is honestly surprising how the panel executes a peaceful discussion, where the members just contradict each other’s statements without getting into a clattering debate.
