Much to its own style, Bhabhi Ji Hamari Hai is a rib-tickling comic drama, tending to dispense laughter and comedy while sneaking a peek into everyday life in small-town India. The entire and sole concept of the show revolves around two neighboring families and the hilarious misadventures spun by the irresistible allure of their respective Bhabhi Ji, be it real or imagined. The series is located in a fabricated, middle-class colony where the lead characters, Manohar and Raghav, stay with their respective families. Manohar is an easy-going and kind-hearted man whose life gets teased by the behavior of his overeager and somewhat quirky wife named Suman. On the contrary, the clever and sly Raghav is always found getting into trouble because of the ambitious and strong-headed nature of his wife, Priya, once or sometimes more than once. The serial, in a way, is based on the funny, at times absurd, extent to which Manohar and Raghav go to win one another's wife-their dear Bhabhi Ji. It is on this thin premise that serial comedy is based: a sequence of comic confusion, mistaken identity, and hilarious slip-ups holding viewers glued to their seats. Even in this vicarious manner, the serial remains deeply rooted in values of love, respect, and family, with Manohar and Raghav not crossing the line of decency even though they act on his infatuations quite often.
