So Bhaiyo Ki Ladli is a  Hindi serial that aired on DD Kisan. It revolves around a young, independent, and knowledgeable woman called Madhu. It also revolves around the story of the beautiful village of Dharhara in Gopalpur Block in Bihar. Dharahara's fame rests with its claim of being the village with zero incidences of female foeticide. This social evil is widely prevalent and is a cause of concern, particularly in rural areas. The village achieved this rare and progressive feat by striking at the root of the malice, the belief that a female child is a burden for the household and that the birth of a female child is not at all welcomed, much less looked forward. However, the village people proved this belief wrong by celebrating the birth of a girl child by pomp and show. It is an occasion of happiness that they mark by planting mango trees in their fields. These mango trees are not just mere mementos but also an investment for securing the future of their girl children. This unique practice thus effectively addresses two contemporary burning issues of gender equality and conservation of the environment by combining them into one logical solution; hence, it can be said that the village respects its girl children as well as protects its natural wealth by making it a remarkable story of women empowerment and environmental protection.

Madhu, an educated and bold woman, is so proud of her village's distinct tradition that she wishes to emulate it wherever possible. Firmly established the premise, the story now moves forward and picks up the pace with the arrival of a proposal of marriage for Madhu from a nearby village. Madhu's family readily accepts, and she is promptly married off to her in-laws' house. There much to her chagrin, she realizes that not everyone is a progressive as in her natal home, especially her brother-in-law, who turn out to be so narrow and conservative that he constantly nags and berates his wife for having borne him two girl children. He thus does not like Madhu and makes her life difficult. The corrupt village headman also plays the villain, as Madhu attempts to change the backward mentality of her new home and village, resulting in intense situations making the show an intriguing yet rewarding watch.
