Sawaare Sabke Sapne Preeto, SSSP, was a famous Indian Television serial showcased on Imagine tv. The story is of a traditional Punjabi family, set in the back-lanes of Amritsar, India close to the Air force base. The Story circles around the life of the peculiar, yet lovable lower middle-class Dhillon family who have moved to India, post the partition and now live in an old Mansion.

The titular character is that is Manpreet aka Preeto, the third daughter of the Dhillon family who takes on the responsibility of the house upon her meek shoulders. Preeto’s mother laments of not having a son and hence Preeto decides to play the role of the son of the family. She is a tailor, who designs and stiches clothes for her various clients in order to contribute to her family’s income. She wants to educate her two younger sisters Bani and Sonu and get her older sisters Meeta and Ishu married. The story revolves round Preeto’s this struggle and how she couragously faces every obstacle in her path.
Meeta is kind hearted and lovely, but due to her plump body is unable to find a suitable groom. She is engaged to

, who is told that Meeta is the only daughter of the Dhillons. When Booby find the lies told by the Dhillon family, he plans to break the marriage but falls for Ishu aka Ishmeet. When rejected he tries to blackmail her, which is later revealed to all by Preeto. Preeto then sets to find suitbale grooms for her elder sisters and bumps into Rajbeer, played by
Aditya Redij
, who is an Air force officer and they fall for each other. In the meantime, Rajbeer’s friend, Dhruv played by Kannan Malhotra, who is also an Air force officer falls for Ishu, who commits her love after much persuations.
The Dhillons find a suitable match in Pankaj, played by Sailesh Gulabani for Meeta and get her married.Amidst much drama and frolic, Preeto and Rajbeer confess their love for each other. At the same time, Preeto’s father meets with an accident, also losing his job. Tensions start mounting in the Dhillon household with Ishu’s marriage round the corner. Hence, Preeto decides go away from Rajbeer. The wedding takes place with much ado. Druv’s parents Mr. And Mrs. Ahluwalia played by
Vijay Aidasani
and
Aradhana Uppal
, are against the marriage but still agree for their son. Pabitra Punia enters the show as Simran Druv’s sister who falls for Rajbeer.
Preeto’s mother comes to know of her love for Rajbeer and convinces her to get married to him. But Neelam Ahluwalia, Druv’s mother, knowing that her daughter too is in love with Rajbeer, blackmails Preeto, that if she marries Rajbeer, she will make sure that Druv and Ishu are divorced. Being confused as to what to do next, Preeto decides get married to Sunny played by Sresth Kumar, who is Pankaj’s Cousin. Sunny had seen Preeto at Meeta and Pankaj’s wedding and fallen for her. Hence he agrees to fake marriage with Preeto, which becomes a closely gaurded secret between them. Sonu, the youngest Dhillon daughter also comes to know of the fake marriage but remains quite for her sister’s sake. Preeto trys to fake being a bad girl in front of Rajbeer while trying to convince him to get married to Simran. The Story ends with Rajbeer overhearing the truth about Preetos marriage and them coming together to live happily ever after.
There were complaints that the story ending was rather abrupt and hence improper. The show had to be shut abrubtly as the Channel-Imagine tv was being shut. The show premeired on 4th July, 2011 and the last episode was telecasted on 12th April, 2012. The show was aired Monday-Firday, 8.30 pm on Imagine TV.
