Maaya is a revenge drama that started ten years ago when MJ, a married businessman and a womaniser, had an affair with a young Manvi.

When he found out that she got pregnant, he thrashed her and left her to die, with the help of his accomplices, Aamir Abdullah (his business partner), Nargis (Aamir’s wife), Jogi (his driver), and Sudhir Dutt (his business partner). His other girlfriend, Diya, who is also his wife, Antara’s friend, tried to abort the child before the incident. Her brother, Manas, was also killed by MJ. She was saved by her stalker, Vikram Jaisingh, whom she promised to marry but ran away on the day of their wedding. However, she adopted his last name and changed her name to Maya Jaisingh. The innocent girl was turned into a vindictive and manipulative liar who would go to great lengths to accomplish her task.

She becomes one of the bestselling authors worldwide and now gathers the resources to enact her revenge. MJ and Antara have two kids, Rishi and Rudra. Maya meets Rishi when she saves him from drowning, and he starts falling for her fast. Meanwhile, Maya tricks Rudra into publishing her new book and gets close to him. Her friend Rajeev helps her in revenge but dies at the hands of Vikram, who has his own revenge against Maya. However, she manipulates him into helping her again. Rishi is afraid to tell his father about his girlfriend, so Maya manipulates him into cutting his wrists to convince his father, but he dies.

MJ blames Rishi’s death on his girlfriend and sends his men after her. Manas’s ex-girlfriend, Myra, was in on the revenge plan and sacrificed her life by pretending to be Maya. Rudra is oblivious to the fact that Maya was his brother’s girlfriend. He is grateful to her for helping him get his share of the business from his father. Rudra and Maya slowly fall in love and get married. She slowly kills all of MJ’s accomplices and has him put Diya is a mental hospital. He later finds evidence that Maya kills Rishi and hands it to Rudra. The serial ends climactically with MJ and Maya shooting each other.
