The plot of the show is about a mother, Kunti Devi and her wish for the best daughter-in-law for her only son Kanhaiya. She wanted a daughter-in-law with five qualities, but instead, Kanhaiya gets five wives with names resembling their qualities – Pratibha (intelligence), Prema (love), Panjiri (food), Prarthana (prayer), and Pari (beauty).
Later, Kunti wanted some more qualities in her daughter-in-law, and Lord Shiva grants it by granting five grandchildren – Dhairya (patience) to Panjiri, Buddhi(knowledge) to Pari, Chanchal(playful) to Prathana, Shakti (strength) to Prema, and Surili (melodious) to Pratibha.
