‘Ghulaam’ is a story of a person named Rangeela who is a slave to Veer (chotesarkar). The serial has been setupat a fictional place named Behrampur which is located at the border of Delhi and Haryana. Veer is the son of Chaudhary Bhishma Pratap (Sarkar) who claims that there are only two Gods of Behrampur, one who gives birth and lives above us and the other is himself who decides the death.

It is truly basedon the death subject of depravity and women suppression in the hinterlands of India. Women in Behrampur are treated like prisoners and mere commodities. Women have no right for the opinion on matters of house or town. Sarkar has been shown as a powerful person as in the starting a girl named Rashmi was kidnapped from a moving train by the goons of Chaudhary BhismaPratap. That girl was brought to the village and forcefully got married to the second son of Sarkar.

She tried to fight against them but was not able to succeed and got her tounge burnt. The main power of Sarkar lies with Rangeela as he is a very strong and powerful guy. The story takes a turn when Rangeela meets Shivani, a girl who lives in Rajasthan and is very innocent, in Delhi as Shivani was in Delhi for her uncle’s treatment and Rangeela was there for business.

Meanwhile, Rangeela received a call from Sarkar to bring a girl with whom his son Veer can get married to. He then married Shivani and took her to Behrampur as per the orders given to him by Sarkar. Rangeela is a good person as he is totally opposite in front of Sarkar. He liked Shivani but couldn’t do anything for it as his Sarkar was his only God and he could do anything for them. Despite being set in present days, it showcases the sad state of women in a fictitious city. The atrocities done on the women takes this show to a different level.
