The National Award is one of the famous and renowned awards in the different categories of award. It presented for the appreciation of remarkable performance of the cast in the film. In this award, all the languages of the movies are taken into the consideration for the winner of the awardee. The 39th National Award was organised in the year 1992 for the film which has released in the year 1991. The award ceremony was conducted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, India. Every year it has the responsibility to conduct this function.

The Agantuk film has got the best feature film among all the nominations. It is the Bengali language movie. It has got the three awards for this cinema. The Satyajit Ray got the award for this movie as a director. The best non-feature film award was received by the Sons of Abotani: The Missings.
