She is a middle-aged woman. She is a strict woman. She comes from a middle-class family but never fails to pretend to have a rich life in front of her friends. Her husband, Jovesh, works a 9-5 job. Mani is the most dominant one in the house, and everybody has to obey her. They have a young daughter, Mausam who is a college-going girl. They have a maid, Gangu Bai, who converses in Marathi mixed with Gujarati. Her words bring confusion to the house and create ridiculous misunderstandings. 

It is Mani’s wedding anniversary, and she waits for Jovesh to come home from the office. When Jovesh comes home, he complains there is nothing happy about his marriage as Mani’s mother promised him a car but due to Mani’s father’s untimely death, she sold it. To contradict it, Mani also complains about how they are still in the same economic class while her friends have excelled. Mani decides that she will help Jovesh to get a car from her mother. Meanwhile, Mausam has a boyfriend, Jatin, who has come to visit her in the house.

Gangu Bai catches them and tells Mausam she will complain to her mother. To this, Mausam says they will marry each other. Jatin meets with Mani and Jovesh. Mani does not seem to like her due to his unstable family. Mani looks for other prospects for marriage. She brings home Sachin and Pancham as prospects. Mani chooses Pacham as the best prospect, while Jovesh chooses Sachin. But Mausam persists in marrying Jatin.

She runs away from her house to Jatin as her parents are against her marriage. Her parents are horrified. Surprisingly, she comes back within a few hours. Jatin comes to drop her. He confesses to Mnai that he is not serious about Mausam as his visa for America was accepted, and he plans to go there. He looked at Mani as a very good friend but not as a boyfriend. He advises Mausam to never make any decision in life without her parent’s blessings or else she will not be successful.
