The Julie Andrews Hour was a variety arts entertainment show broadcasted on the ABC network and distributed widely by ITC entertainment (Incorporated Television Company). It was produced by ATV (Associated Television). It was also known as the Julie Andrews Show in the UK. It aired from 1972 to 1973, having one season of 24 episodes. The show was hosted by Dame Julie Andrews. Several acts were performed, like sketch comedy, musical performances, dance performances, etc. To introduce herself to the audience, she would recreate scenes from plays she had taken part in, perform musical numbers from her days on Broadway to movies, and dance with background dancers.

As the show progressed, humorous skits and spoofs of old dramas began to be performed. Often Julie would invite celebrities and they would engage in those skits and spoofs. Long medleys of songs from the 50s and 60s would be sung to pay homage. Due to its vivacious and genius approach to comedy and entertainment in general, the show was received with unanimous enthusiasm. However, due to clashing broadcasting times with other equally successful series, as well as the fierce competition, it had to be cancelled. Even then, the show was nominated for several prestigious awards.
