COLORS broadcast a different style of comedy altogether - the Theatrical style of Nautanki- The Comedy Theatre.
In each episode, the public is being entertained with a new life story with the help of four revolving platforms and varied kinds of props which help the actors to walk on the stage smoothly during the act with perfect timing for transition and settings. This show is a package of all Indian traditional shows; it has Indian masala, drama and funny fighting.
Neha Dhupia along with Tusshar Kapoor are the co-owners of this Nautanki Theater; they have a small team of essential four people, who are playing the lead roles to entertain the audiences. These vital nautankis are Gurpreet Ghuggi - the funny man from Jalandhar who is the 'Jaadugar padosi', the talented 'Rashami Desai' as Sandhu known as Natkhat Sali from Uttaran, a female turned comedian - Kamya Punjabi enacted as Chulbuli Patni, child comedian is enacted by Saloni and last but not the least Daini enacted Bathaki Maa.
The story is all about these comedians enacting various characters cornered in different situations and they are accompanied by various cameos and in each episode. Nautanki- The Comedy Theatre aired on Colors TV in India on the 2nd day of Feb year 2013. The show is broadcasted every Saturday and Sunday. The comedy show also featured celebrity guests to endorse their latest shows or films.
In the first episode father and son duo was aired wherein Jeetendra with Tusshar Kapoor along with the olden days villain Ranjit who acted as a bar owner. The succeeding episodes had special appearances by Imam Siddique as Mr. Manorajan who was the Bigg Boss contestant, new superstar and Punjabi dude Ayushman Khurana and royal man Kunal Roy Kapur on the show.
