Akale Trailer Synopsis

Akale is a movie based on human fragility and inspired by the American classic play ‘Glass Menagerie’. The movie is about a family residing in Northern Kerala, who are Anglo- Indians. Neil (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is a frustrated middle-aged guy who works as a clerk in a warehouse for his livelihood. He aspires to transform as a writer. Neil resides with his mother Margaret and sister Rose. His father was a sailor who abandons his wife and children.

Neil's sister, Rose is a humble girl suffering from a deformity in her leg. She is very much fascinated by Glass figurines. Margaret is always worried about her son’s weird habits and Rose’s future. Things take a turn when Neil calls his colleague, Freddy for dinner at home. Margaret thinks that maybe Freddy will be interested in marrying Rose. But their dreams are shattered when they get to know he is already engaged. Rose is disappointed to know the news and later she is admitted to a mental asylum where she dies.

The performance by the star cast is excellent. The film is shot to reveal a 70’s look. Prithviraj has brilliantly played the role of a frustrated youngster who aspires to be a writer. The female star Geetu Mohandas has very well maintained into the intensity of the role of Rose. She has beautifully acted like a sensitive girl feeling all those emotions flowing through her.
