AnalysisÂ
'Double Engine' is not your regular indie movie. It has an earnest vision: a peek into the lively village culture of the hamlets of Telangana. The title itself is a tribute to some of the local slang of the state.Â
The movie seamlessly transitions from the hustle and bustle of urban life to the quaint village life through the central character of Danny, an auto driver. The bond between Danny and his village friends is anything but forced.Â
The film is a slow burner: it takes its own sweet time to build the momentum. The first half is devoted to the characters and their dreams, and the second half is more about the search for the snake. The way the trio goes about it is a ride in itself.Â
Is the movie innovative? Of course, it is. Is the experience engaging? Absolutely. Is the film as a whole outstanding? In some places, yes, but not so much in others. As an indie movie, making it both endearing and appealing is in itself an arduous task, but the makers have attempted their best. However, in some places, the editing, as well as some sequences had room for improvement.Â
What's There?

Verdict:
'Double Engine' may not be your everyday mass masala, but it does pack a punch. The quirky insight into the village culture of Telangana in itself is a reason enough to watch this movie. This film also proves that if the intentions are good, indie movies like these are worth a try!
