Analysis
Vimanam is a film that can strike a chord with any kind of audience in the universe, as it operates on a relatable plotline: the love between a father and his son. The film capitalizes on this very aspect, but there are some executional flaws.
Firstly, the film is not very engaging. As it progresses, Veerayya is only bombarded with more and more difficulties, and the narrative just gets positively bleaker. While this does help to gain sympathy for the character, it also means that the audience may lose interest in it after a point. The storyline has bits of humor here and there, but it is not enough to lighten up the overly depressing plot.
Secondly, some plot points were unnecessary, such as the parallel storyline between Koti (Rahul Ramakrishna) and Sumathi (Anasuya Bharadwaj). All it accomplishes is added baggage to the already heavy film.
However, the emotional scenes are bang on. Samuthirakani's acting skills are elevated by the touching writing. The film nails each and every one of these sequences especially in the last part of the film. The scene where Veerayya curses at God, and the one where him and Raju finally board a plane to Tirupati, are sure to bring you to tears.

Verdict
Vimanam is beautiful and touching film. It plays on a story that is relatable to all: the love that father holds for his son, and the lengths he is willing to go for him. It is a masterpiece worth watching.
