Kathir and Adhirshtalakshmi meet in a park. She finds out that he has some financial issues. So, she gives him a lump sum and requests him to take her to his hostel. Father Kuriakose is the hostel warden, who is very strict and wants people to be disciplined. Sathappan is his assistant. How Kathir takes her to the hostel and why does Adhirshtalakshmi helps him and wants to hide in the hostel are told comically in the rest of the film.
Ashok Selvan and Priya Bhavani Shankar did their part well. Nassar and Munishkanth form a good team. Ravi Mariya is neat in the given role.
Generally, all the remakes couldn’t make it big. Maybe some movies like Chandramukhi, Vasool Raja MBBS, and Papanasam make it big. Adi Kapyare Kootamani was a hit. But, Hostel couldn’t bring the magic which AKK created. Though the cast is good and the film is technically sound, some scenes seem to be derailed from the plot. A few scenes evoke laughter, and if some adult comedy scenes had been avoided, it would have become a family entertainer. The music gels well with the story. The visuals and editing are pretty decent.
What’s Not There?
'Hostel' might have become a decent entertainer if some adult comedy scenes are not inserted. However, it is a one-time watch!
