Shruthi is the original name of Haripriya, who is a south Indian actress. Hailing from Chikkaballapura, Karnataka, she is also a Bharathanatyam dancer and model. Her maiden venture is in a Kannada film named Manasugula Mathu Madhura. Later, her films didn’t do that well. However, she got Filmfare nomination for her good performance in the political movie Kallara Santhe. The film Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu gained her much appreciation and she became famous in Karnataka. Born as Shruthi, the actress changed her name to Haripriya, which acts as her stage name. Following the recent trend to turn the factors of luck, based on numerology the actress altered the spelling of her name to Hariprriya. She was born in Chikkaballapura, Karnataka and studied at Vidya Mandir. Hariprriya completed her Pre-University Course and started learning Bharatanatyam in Bangalore. She claims to have been inspired by her grandfather, who was a theater personality himself.Â
Hariprriya made her debut in acting with a Tulu film, Badi, directed by Richard Castelino and later on, starred in other languages such as Kannada, Tamil and Telugu. In 2008, she made her first appearance on the Kannada film screen with the movie, Manasugula Mathu Madhura, which wasn’t much of success. After a few unsuccessful projects, Hariprriya got her first Filmfare nomination as the Best Kannada actress with the political satire, Kallara Santhe in 2009. The movie was directed by D. Sumana Kittur and starred other actors such as Yash, Rangayana Raghu, Kishore, and Sobhraj. Hariprriya’s popularity rose with her next film, Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu, and with that, she started receiving offers from directors of other languages. In 2010, she starred in Kanagavel Kaaka, a Tamil film directed by Kavin Bala. The movie was produced by Saravana and Kishore G. Sha under the production company of Akarshini Theatres and was received with a moderate review.Â
