Plot

The plot line of Sumeru revolves around its lead character, Bhavar Pratap Singh (played by Avinash Dhyani), a young man who goes on to search for his father, while on his search, he finds a companion in Savi Malhotra (Sanskriti Bhatt), who was in Harsil for her destination wedding. The two fall in love with each other while on Bhavar’s journey of searching for his father. The film depicts a very innocent love story between the two lead characters, Bhavar Pratap Singh and Savi Malhotra.

Analysis

The film was shot in a very picturesque location, the cinematography of the film compliments the beautiful locations, and looks dreamy on-screen. The locations of Uttarakhand, Mussoorie, etc might compel you to book a trip down there right now! Both the lead actors lack the screen presence that is required for the leading actors in a film. The direction is not at all praiseworthy and very average. The script has been written poorly. The actors have done a pretty decent job at portraying their characters, while some of them were not at par with the others. The lead actor heavily lacks a strong screen presence, while the female lead did her job pretty decently while leaving room for better performance, the male lead, on the other hand, single-handedly carried the film on his shoulder. However, one might get bored because of the repetitive approach of the film.

Sumeru is a decent love story, the refreshing part of Sumeru is that, the female lead is a very strong independent women who can take her own decisions. The film is a decent watch that besides being a love story, also shows a son searching for his father. There are moments when the film becomes a bit boring, however, this doesn’t last long as the dreamy hilly locations and the music makes up for it. Overall, if you want to watch an engaging love story, you should give Sumeru a watch.
