Plot
The film follows Jules, played by Brittany Allen, and Jackie, played by Hannah Emily Anderson, when they visit Jackie’s family’s lakeside home to celebrate their first anniversary. They are a loving couple, but upon reaching their destination, Jackie starts behaving strangely because she omits Jules from activities or doesn’t inform her about where she’s going or what she’s doing. Jules gets frustrated by Jackie’s behavior and asks Jackie for an explanation. At this confrontation, Jackie becomes furious and pushes Jules off a cliff to kill her. Jules survives the fall but has to hide from Jules and survive her attacks because Jackie is hell-bent on finishing her off. The film follows Jules in her bid to survive the attacks of the woman she loves, who is desperately trying to kill her.
Star Performance
Hannah Emily Anderson and Brittany Allen deliver stellar performances. Anderson perfectly portrays the peculiarities of a psychopath, and Allen perfectly shows the desperation of a person trying their best to survive.
Analysis
“What Keeps You Alive” is a good thriller based on the concept that “you never know who you’re marrying.” Since the film follows a homosexual couple, both women are equal as opponents.
