The kids Lucy and Edward come back again to save the world of Narnia from the clutches of evil in the final part of the three-part sequence of The Chronicles of Narnia.
Plot The movie starts off with England at war just like the other two parts, and the kids are evacuated again. However the elder two are evacuated to America whereas the younger two, Lucy and Edward, are left to their aunt’s home where they come across their cousin Eustace. Edward and Lucy are in their mid-teen now and are immersed in various insecurities such as being too young to be in the army for Edward and not being as beautiful as her sister for Lucy. Adding to the gloomy mood of the kids, their cousin isn’t as welcoming as he ought to be. However, things start taking a bright side as the kids find themselves in the world of Narnia again through a portrait in Eustace’s room.
Lucy, Edward, and Eustace join hands with Prince Caspian and the rest of the Narniaties to destroy the forces of evil that's shadowing the land of Narnia. The team learns that they have to retrieve the seven swords at Aslan’s table in order to get back the banished sever lords of the land and restore peace in Narnia. They undergo various tests in their fantastical adventures to get the swords as the kids learn the importance of the balance of humility and self-importance. The movie comes to a climax with Aslan telling Lucy and Edward that since they are old enough now, they cannot come back to Narnia and the Narniaties and the kids go through a prolonged farewell as the movie ends.
Analysis: The storyline of the movie does follow the novel, however, compared to the other two it appeared to be a bit strained in order to complete the series. The graphics were a bit overrated, and the climax was much too boring! It’s a decent enough movie for kids to watch. A particular disclaimer that has to be shouted out though does not search for logic!! Though the impression of the fantasy movie is lost on the crowd as the makers of the movie didn’t think of standing in a child’s shoe for shooting! The movie overall gives out a conclusion that Michael apted bit more than he could chew.
What’s there? 1. Gripping graphics 2. Sticks to the storyline 3. Innocent adventure fantasy good for kids
What’s not there? 1. Reaching to the expectations 2. A good climax
Verdict: When the movie is made for kids, better let them watch it!
