, and Chris Pontius. It is a movie about existential crisis. It portrays life as an actor and later, life as a single parent.
Plot-
The movie starts with Johnny Marco (Stephen Dorff) living the life of a filthy rich actor who has no feeling or regard for anything else. However, his life changes when his ex-wife suddenly leaves, and he is left as a single parent to his 11-year old daughter. A plot of a father-daughter relationship now follows. It is fun and a happy-sad plot, which shows how human relationships can never be undermined by money and popularity of any kind.
Analysis-
The movie is not pretentious. It is very honest and realistic. It shows the inside world of the celebrities, however, doesn’t fool itself in the part. The transformation from a well-known actor who has everything (really!) in life to a single parent is well handled by Stephen Dorff. Sophia Copolla portrays the actor as having everything, however is still shown to be human. The part played by the little girl is also absolutely adorable, but not too kiddish.
Star Performances-
Stephen Dorff does a good job of the actor, whose every desires is fulfilled and is then transformed to a father. This change is well-handled by him. Elle Fanning makes an adorable daughter.
Verdict-
A little funny at places, this movie will melt your heart. Do watch it once! It has not exaggerated on any part.
