Plot
Painkiller Jane is a film that is based on a comic book. This film is about a character named Jane Elizabeth Browning, who is a young female soldier and a captain in the U.S. Army. Jane was exposed to a biochemical weapon during a mission in Slovetskaia. When the team tries to retreat, they are ambushed and killed by a group of armed men. However, Jane is the only one who survives and seems to have developed an ability to heal herself from any injury. She realizes that the biochemical weapon that she had been exposed to has granted her the superpower that enables her to self-heal, along with enhanced strength, senses, speed and mental abilities. Jane is an object of intrigue for the military and the psychiatrist Dr. Graham Knight studies her. The military conducts several tests on her. She is then transferred to Alaska so that they can perform more tests. Jane is desperate to escape and uses this situation as an opportunity to escape, dreading that the military will never let her be free. She successfully escapes with the help of the professional thief, Nick Pierce. Jane lives with Nick and his companions for a short while. Then she leaves to track down Dr. Graham on a quest to discover what was done to her. Graham reveals to her that his real identity is Captain Lucas Insley and that he is investigating Watts, who has disguised himself as Peter Erfan, the creator of the virus that granted Jane her new abilities. The rest of the film shows how Jane uses her superpowers to fight crime and find out the truth behind the virus and its creator, while avoiding the military.
Star Performance
Emmanuelle Vaugier has acted well as the main protagonist Jane.
Eric Dane has also performed excellently.
Analysis
The action scenes in the film are engaging and consistently keeps us on the edge of our seats. The film’s plot is predictable and familiar. The CGI effects in the movie, especially the CGI forest is pretty bad. The film is not true to the comic book that it was based on.

Verdict
This film contains a lot of gory scenes and, hence, I do not recommended this for children. This film is excellent for action lovers. However, if you are eagerly expecting this film to be exactly like the comic book that it was based on, then I don’t suggest you watch it.
