The flick ‘Looking for Eric’ is a British-French film that hit the screens in 2009. The plot revolves around the game of football and the football heroes. The game and its heroes are a relief for fans who lead a difficult and monotonous life. Paul Laverty developed the screenplay, and the movie was directed by Ken Loach, who is an English director. The movie has an excellent ensemble of artists. Eric Cantona, a former player of football and a professional guitarist, make an appearance in the film. Steve Evets does the character of Eric Bishop in the movie. Stephanie Bishop has played the role of his wife. Gerard Keams and Stefan Gumbs have played the role of his son.

Plot: The plot revolves around the character Eric Bishop. Bishop’s job in the post office is not a very satisfying one. Also, to add up to the misery, he meets with a car accident and gets admitted to the hospital. Bishop’s stepsons are driving him mad, and it appears like they want to snub the life out of Eric. Moreover, Eric’s second marriage has failed. With no place to take refuge in, Eric finds that there is always a ray of hope in life. Eric Bishop goes for a short discussion with his fellow mail carriers at his residence. He then goes high on drugs and has hallucinations. Eric’s football hero Eric Cantona emerges in his hallucinations and gives him suggestions on leading a happy life. Eric’s life takes a turn for the good, and his marriage life is restored. Also, Eric Cantona reemerges in his dreams saving him from dire consequences in life. Scenes in the movie unfold in an engrossing manner as Eric Cantona helps Bishop escape the clutches of police and gangsters.

The movie’s climax shows Bishop’s daughter graduating from college. The entire family has a happy reunion. One need not be a football lover to love the film. Neither does one need to be a fanatic of the film’s director to relish the film.

Verdict: The movie ‘Looking for Eric’ is tremendous relief for the tired souls during the weekend.Princess Kaiulani
