PLOT
Back in the 1980’s summer, Bjorn Borg (Sverrir Gudnason) is the most known and top tennis player in the world. His skills and passion have taken control all over the sport. He has been a renowned player and continuously winning all the titles since past few tournaments. The movie shows the enraged rivalry between Swede Bjorn Borg and American John McEnroe (Shia LaBeouf) just like every controversial fight of the known players of any generation. Borg is going to play his fifth successive Wimbledon men’s singles title and fears his competitor, McEnroe.
With few days left for the tournament to begin, Borg gets trained in his Monaco home but McEnroe's confidence and excellent playing skills continue to bother Borg's temperament. The match was seen as one of the greatest of all time marking the mirador of strife between Borg and McEnroe; a thrilling battle that can never be forgotten. Sverrir Gudnason plays the older Borg while the tennis star’s son Leo Borg plays, the younger Borg. Shia LaBeouf enacts and copies all of McEnroe’s attitude and has given a solid performance which is worth appreciating.
ANALYSIS
The film got many positive reviews and got awarded for the “Best Visual Effects” and “Public Prize” at Noordelijk Film Festival. The Drama directed by Janus was a great motivation for the tennis lovers, and especially during the final match as they also got to learn the various techniques of the sport. Janus Metz also won the “Best Directional Debut” at Camerimage International Film Festival.
