Plot 

The film follows Isabel Anderson, played by Michelle Williams. Isabel is the co-founder of an orphanage in India. She was invited to travel to New York Click to look into! >> Read More... to meet with a millionaire benefactor Theresa Young, played by Julianne Moore. Isabel was reluctant to travel to New York because she does not want to leave Jai, a young boy she had raised in the orphanage since he was one year old. Since Theresa insists on meeting in person, Isabel goes to New York. The day after their meeting, Theresa invited Isabel to her daughter Grace’s wedding on the next day. At the wedding, Isabel uncovers a secret between Theresa’s husband and her. The film follows Isabel as she faces a conundrum and her decision which would affect a lot of people involved in her life. 

Star Performance 

Michelle Williams and Julianne Moore give powerful performances. Michelle Williams perfectly portrays Isabel’s emotional struggles. Julianne Moore is stellar as Theresa, a woman wrapping up her life. 

Analysis 

This remake of the 2006 eponymous film does not have the same impact the 2006 film had. The film does not dwell on emotions and conflicts, which makes the characters and their plights seem distant.

Although the film has a good cast and storyline, the film lacks the depth, complexity and allure of the 2006 film. The film might be a good watch for viewers who have not seen the 2006 film.
