On Wednesday, the court started trial in a rape case against the Peepli Live director

Mahmood Farooqui, born on 13th March 1978 (age 38) >> Read More...
, who has been under the judicial custody since June 20. Farooqui was accused of sexually assaulting an American woman, who is pursuing PHD from the Columbian University and just came to India to do some research.
Judge Sanjiv Jain has recorded the declaration of Ram Singh, a Delhi Police official, who documented the minutiae from the first information report under the record diary. It was said that the trial will be continued on Thursday.
Last September 2, the court framed rape charges against the director.
