, the legendary playback singer cum music director celebrates her birthday today. Lata was born on 28th September 1929 in Indore. Right from 1942, she had been in the film industry rendering her sweet voice to the cinema stars in various film industries mainly in Hindi, Marathi and Bengali. It is to be noted that she has crooned in more than 36 languages that include Indian and foreign languages.
The respectable singer is the proud recipient of Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Legion of Honour, Dada Saheb Phalke Award, Bharat Ratna and lot more awards. She is the second vocalist to grab the highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna after M S Subbulakshmi. Lata had received three
