Munir Qureshi is a well-known writer and poet who is commonly known as Munnu Bhai. He was born on 6 February 1933 in Wazirabad, Punjab. He went to Government College, Attock, for his primary education. Munir started his career at a young age as a translator in a leading daily Urdu newspaper, during which he was associated with various leading publications in Pakistan. In the newspaper, his column “Girebaan” was viral among people because of his creative pieces that focused on a very humanistic view.

In his career, Munir wrote dedicatedly for the super hit Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) dramas such as Sona Chandi A fun comedy-drama, Sona Chandi is a 1982 televisi >> Read More... in 1982 which won much praise. Also, he was a sincere, humble, and honest man. He wrote a book titled “Jangal Udaas Hai,” in which he spoke about great writers after they had passed away.

His life and journalistic career are something for all of us to look up to. Besides being an excellent writer, he was associated with several social and welfare organizations. Munir is truly an asset for the entire nation, they will always be remembered for his outstanding services to the country. Munir was awarded the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan in 2007 for his services to the nation. He was also rewarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Crescent of Excellence) Award in 2018 for his notable literary services. He left us on 19 January 2018 in Lahore.
