Asghar Nadeem Syed

Asghar Nadeem Syed is a writer and poet, born on 14^th January 1950 in Multan, Pakistan. He completed his Master's in Urdu from the University of Punjab in Lahore. Asghar is a Ph.D. holder and did his doctorate at Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. Asghar is famous for his scripts in Pakistani dramas on PTV and STN.

He is famous for his TV drama, Chaand Grahan, broadcast on Shalimar Television Network. It is one of the highest-rated dramas in Pakistani TV history. Besides being a playwright and a serial writer, Asghar worked as a media consultant for Pakistan Television Corporation. Most of his scripts carry societal issues, including women's exploitation, feudalism, politics, and media. Asghar had been the HOD of TV, Film, and Theater at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. He has nearly four decades of teaching experience.

In 2006, Asghar received the Pride of Performance Award from the Pakistan President. He was also awarded as the Best Writer by the Pakistan Television Corporation. In 2013, Asghar was appointed as one of the Board of Governors at the Pakistan Academy of Letters. Pakistani writers and scholars are members of the institution. He escaped the gun attack in 2014 while returning by his car from the University. In 2020, Asghar became one of the directors of Pakistan Television Corporation and worked under Naeem Bokhari, the Chairman.

Aadhe Chand Ki Raat, Tarz-e-Ehsas, and Adhoori Kulliyat are the books penned by Asghar.
