Rostam Mirlashari was born in Zahedan, Iran, in 1961. He was very keen on learning music from a very young age. He studied civil engineering and worked in the building industry, but his passion for music and singing made him change his career. He was educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm; hence, he is famously known as the "Prince of Balochi music". He has been a vocalist in the multi-cultural group Golham. His style of music draws inspiration from the traditional music of his hometown, Balochistan.
He has traveled across the world, including places like Iran, Sweden, and other countries. He has released over 12 albums and is well-known for his unique voice and his ability to blend traditional Balochi music with modern styles. Apart from this, he has worked as a composer and initiator for Shohaz (2001–2003), Padik (2002–2003), and Sheida (2006–2007).
Some of his popular works are "Warna", "Rozhnak", "Pour-Afrigha", "Washmalle", and "Dilruba". His work has brought him recognition, and he is a recipient of the Swedish Grammis Award for Best World Music Album.
He is a very respected, humble, and versatile figure in the Urdu entertainment industry.
