Parvez Mehdi was a Ghazal singer from Pakistan. He was born as Parvez Akhtar in 1947. Bashir Hussain Rahi, his father, trained him in music. Parvez also received training from Siraj Ahmed Qureshi, a Sitar player. In 1968, he made his first performance in Radio Pakistan. Parvez also partnered with Kahlid Ashghar, a Qawwali singer. Along with Ghazals, Parvez also performed folk songs and film songs. When he sang with the famous Pakistani singer Reshma on a TV show, he made a huge breakthrough.

On 14th August 2005, the Pakistani Independence Day, he was nominated for an award. He was conferred the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz award on 23rd March 2006, the Pakistan Day. It was a posthumous award. Parvez died on 29th March 2005 due to a cardiac arrest. He was 58.
