Abbas Ali Khan, born Sahibzada Abbas Ali Khan, is a renowned Pakistani singer, songwriter, music producer, and lyricist from Islamabad. Abbas was born on 23rd November 1978 in Islamabad, Pakistan. He is a descendant of the Nawab of Karnals and the great-grandson of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan. He is a graduate of Preston University, The City School.
Abbas was highly inclined towards a music career; hence, he joined a local band called Amadeus at fourteen. In 1987, he wrote his first song, titled Qadam Say Qadam. Later, Abbas began his career as a music composer after receiving classical music training from Fateh Ali Khan. In 2006, he launched his debut independent album Sun Re, which took him to solo musician stardom. The album took inspiration from experiences while growing up. Following a hiatus, he returned in 2012 with the single Per Main Hun Ruka Sa, earning a nomination at the 1st Hum Awards for Best Solo Artist and solidifying his place in the industry.
In 2014, Abbas joined Coke Studio and released his second independent album Tamaam Alam Mast (Entire Universe in Ecstasy). This album was a Sufi album with kalams in Urdu and Persian. It earned Abbas a nomination at the prestigious 14th Lux Style Awards for Album of the Year. Abbas has also done background score for the films Dekh Magar Pyar Se (2015) and Jalaibee (2015), Chalay Thay Saath (2017), Pinky Memsaab (2018), and Azad (2018).
