Abdul Qadir Junejo is a writer and playwright. He was born on 13 September 1945 in Village Jinhan, Tharparkar, Sindh. His father was a police officer. He did his schooling in Jinhan itself. He did his B.A, B.Ed and M.A from the University of Sindh. He became a primary school teacher in 1962, and a secondary school teacher in 1972. He remained director of the Institute of Sindhology at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. He was chairman of the Sindhi Language Authority till 2008. He was a very respectable person in Pakistan. He wrote 22 Sindhi dramas and 11 Urdu dramas.

He wrote more than 50 dramas for PTV, and many of them were considered classics. He wrote many books in English, Sindhi  and Urdu. His genre of writing was both fiction and non-fiction. His writings surround social issues like poverty, inequality, and discrimination. His primary subjects of writing were philosophy, literature etc. Some of his writings include Watoon, Ratyoon Ain Rol (1973), Shikliyoon (1979), The Dead River (2014), Sono Roop Sijj (1986), etc. He became famous in South Asia for his dramas Paranda, Dewareen, Choti Si Dunya and Dhool. His writings are famous in India, U S.A and U.K. He received many awards from local organizations.

The Government of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh awarded him Pride of Performance in 2008 and Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in 2016. He wrote dramas and serials that aired on Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) and commercial channels. Some of his televised dramas were Deewarein, Karwaan, Dukh Sukh Dukh-Sukh is an Urdu series directed by Sakina Sam >> Read More... etc. His most popular drama was Rani Ji Kahani, telecasted by PTV and was translated into English and Chinese languages. He also wrote short stories such as Hikayatan, Manzil, etc. and many essays : Zindagi aur Adab, Sindhi Adab ki Tahzeeb, etc. Several of his Sindhi writings were later translated into English and Urdu because of their popularity. He died on 30 March 2020 at the age of 74 in Jamshoro due to liver disease.
