Urdu Actor Sajjad Kishwar
Written By - Team Nettv4u

Sajjad Kishwar, a Pakistani film, radio, and television actor, was born in Ludhiana, Panjab (during the British Raj), on 6th July 1933. He started his professional career in the entertainment industry back in 1976. Amazingly, he worked in over 100 movies and nearly 1000 television serials throughout his 50-year career.

In the starting phase of his life, Sajjad initiated his schooling in English medium until his family moved to Pakistan and settled in Rawalpindi in 1947. After finishing his matriculation, he graduated from Gujranwala. In the early work phase of his life, Sajjad joined the Pakistani Times as a circulation manager. However, the newspaper business could not hold his interest for long, and he joined the acting world. Sajjad started with the drama Raizgari, in which he played the role of a villain. The show aired from PTV's Rawalpindi center. He worked there until PTV stopped airing serials and became a current affairs station.

Working for radio is evidently a tricky part; the actors have to rely solely on the tone of their voice to deliver a message. The lack of visuals make it challenging for the actors to convey the themes to the audience, and yet Sajjad became a successful radio actor despite the odds. Apart from being an impressive veteran actor, he was a poet with exceptional speaking skills. His writings and audio in Urdu left a deep effect on his followers. Sajjad was also assigned to approve the scripts of stage programs by the Pakistan National Council of the Arts.

During his lifetime, Sajjad bagged several accolades, including the 2006 Lifetime Achievement Award by Radio Pakistan, the 2010 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Development Council of Pakistan, and the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Medal of Excellence) Award by the Government of Pakistan. A few of his shows include Aangan (1982), Khuda Kay Liye (2007), Akhri Shab, Waris (1979-1980), and many others.
