Rangeela was an actor who worked in Pakistan Cinema. He was a man of many talents and is remembered for his comic characters in films. Rangeela was born in 1937 in Afghanistan in the province of Nangarhar as Mohammad Saeed Khan. His name was later on changed to Rangeela. Soon after his birth, his family migrated to Pakistan. He used to paint posters and hoardings for films for meager sums to earn money. He was fond of weightlifting and building his physique. He landed his first role by mere luck. When the director while shooting a film couldn’t find an actor for a comic role, he asked Rangeela to audition, and to everyone’s surprise, he nailed the audition. He made his proper debut with the film Jatti (1958) – a Punjabi movie.
After that, he was seen in a string of comic roles. His acting had a large and separate fandom. Rangeela tried his hand at the direction, production, and playback singing and tasted success in all feats. He opened his own production house Rangeela Productions. With the movie Diya Aur Toofan in 1969, he entered the directorial space. He also became a singer with the song Gaa mere manwa gata ja re in the movie Diya Aur Toofan. He gave a powerful performance in the lead role in the movie Rangeela in 1971. He directed Amanat, Quli, Namak Halal, Sahab Bahadur, Aurat Raj, Rnageela, Ickey Ickey Wacha, Ganwaar, Kaka Jee, Jahaiz, Kubra Ashiq, Subha ka Tara among others. He was the screenplay writer for Aurat Raj and Rangeela.
