Mastana is a Punjabi Singer and a Musician. Asa Singh was born on 22nd August 1927 in Punjab. Asa Singh is the son of Mata Amrit Kaur and Sardar Pritam Singh. Asa Singh got a musical education from Pandit Durga Prasad. Asa Singh also had a Government job in a Bank at Chandni Chowk in Delhi, but Asa retired prematurely to pursue music. Asa Singh is known for the songs Balle Ni Panjaab Diye Sher Bachiye, Doli Charhdeyan Marian Heer Cheekaan, and Kali Teri Gut.
Asa Singh also Sang sad songs like Jadon Meri Arthi Utha Ke Chalan Ge to the famous song Main Jatt Yamla Pagla Deewana. Asa Singh had been awarded The Dilgir Award of the Government of Punjab in 1981, The Punjab Academy Award, and The Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for Folk Music of Punjab in 1986. Asa was also awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 1985. Asa Singh Mastana died on 23rd May 1999 due to a long-standing illness.
