Amar Singh Shaunki used to be a Dhadi singer of Punjab. He was born on 15 August 1916. He belonged to a farmer family and never went to school. Since childhood, he has shown interest in folk music and learned folk music from Sant Baba Maan Singh. Initially, he began to sing under the name Mast but later on started with Dhadd and Sarangi. With Sarwan Singh and Mohan Singh Binda, he made the team. His songs evoked the folk and culture of Punjab. About every color of Punjabi folk was reflected in his songs. He wrote songs covering various topics, including tragic love stories. HMV music company recorded his songs. In his memories, the people of his village, Bhajjlan (now Hoshiarpur), organize a fair named Dhadi Amar Singh Shaunki Sabhyacharak Mela every year. Punjabi singers from all around the world participate in this fair and pay tribute to Amar Singh Shaunki. He died on 14 August 1981 at the age of 64. He was a known full singer in Punjab.
