Punjabi Singer Allah Ditta

Allah Ditta, popularly known as Allah Ditta Lonay Wala was a Pakistani Punjabi singer. He belonged to the Lonay Wala village in Chiniot, Punjab thus the name ‘Lonay Wala’. Born in 1957, he used to sing Punjabi folk songs and popularised Punjabi culture. Allah Ditta’s father wanted Allah to become a doctor and serve society. He put him in a government school for educating him. It was in school that his teachers discovered his melodious voice and his talent for singing. From then on, he started participating in various inter-school singing competitions, district-level competitions, and zonal competitions.

Allah later undertook formal training under Mian Talib Hussain. His most famous album was ‘Shaaman Pei Gaiyaan’ which became an instant hit after release. ‘Main Cham Cham Nachdi Phiran’ (2019), ‘Rus Rus Ke’ (2019), and ‘Yaar Dhola Dildar Dhola’ (2009) are some of his most popular songs. He eventually got married and had five children. He died after a prolonged illness in 2021.
