Surjit Gill was born on 5 July, 1972, in Moga, Punjab. His father, Kartar Singh Gill, is a farmer, and his mother, Gurmeet Kaur Gill, is a homemaker. He is the youngest among his two siblings. He completed his studies in Punjabi literature in a local college. He developed a keen interest in Punjabi literature and poetry there. Later he started writing his own lyrics by reading books of some of the major Punjabi poets. Surjit made his debut as a lyricist with the song “Dil Da Haal”, which appeared in the album Tere Bina Tere Bina is an Urdu TV series. It premiered on 21 >> Read More... in the year 1998. Afterwards, he went on writing for many other artists and worked with many known Punjabi singers. Surjit Gill wrote Punjabi folk genre songs, romantic songs, and devotional songs. Some of his best works include Captain Barry (1984), Kaun Dilan Diyan Jane (1985), Yaaran Da Yaar (2002), Pind Wale Yaar (2005), and Gallan Goriyaan (2012). Working very well with other more popular Punjabi singers and music producers has, in turn, made him a named identity in this industry.
