Bachan Singh Bedil is a Punjabi Lyricist who has earned international fame. Bachan is soft-spoken, a deep thinker, and has a humble personality. Before his worldwide fame, he used to do an office job in Punjab Police to pay his bills for many years and then left his job to focus on his passion, which was reading and writing Punjabi literature, his mother tongue.

He earned the Bedil title from a poet in his village with the same Takhallus, who had taught him the nuances of lyrical writing and permitted him to keep the name.
