Harpal Tiwana was an Indian film and theatre director and playwright by profession. He is best known for his Punjabi language films and plays. He directed two television productions - Saanjhideewar and Maharana Ranjit Singh. Although the latter remained his unfinished project. His filmmaking in Diva Bae Sari Raat, and Long Da Lishkaara became landmarks in the film industry of Punjab. He and his wife are both National School of Drama graduates. They established the Kala Maanch in Punjab. One of his most famous plays includes Sirhind di Deewar. He died in a road accident in May 2002 near Palampur.
