Sabyasachi Mohapatra is a producer, writer, and director in the Odia industry. He was born on August 27, 1950. He was born in Lehedi Odisha, India. He is 66 years old. His father, Kapileswar Prasad Mohapatra, was a renowned author and Bishnupriya Mohapatra was his mother. Mohapatra Movie Magic is a production house owned by Sabyasachi. His first movie as a director was Bhukha, which was in Kosali language. At the Gijon Film Festival, the film Bhukha, won International Jury award. Then later, he directed as well as produced some movies. He is even a film writer; he has written few movies too.

Sabyasachi's movies as a director are Bhukha, Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia, Bou (1998), Sabu Mayare Naya, Jai Jagannatha Jai Jagannatha - It was based on Indian Mythologic >> Read More... (2007), Jhili, Adim Vichar (2014), Sala Budha (2012) and Pahara Ra Luha (2016). A movie produced by him is Jhili. He has also written some of his movies like Bahudibe Mo Jaga Balia, Jai Jagannatha, Bou and Pahada Ra Luha. In 2007, Jai Jagannatha, a film written and directed by Sabyasachi was released not just in Odia but 15 other Indian languages. Jai Jagannatha was a legendary picture. After around 25 years, he directed a movie on the rural background and this was based on a novel written by his father.

The movie set was on the western part of the state. He wanted to make another film in Sambalpuri, the first one being Bhukha. He always wanted to direct another motion picture in Sambalpuri and he was happy that it finally happened. It was a story based on when Singhdeo ruled the state of Sonepur. The story is of the 20th century and is about Maharaja Biramitradaya Singhdeo and his few peasants. The movie is a tribute by Sabyasachi to senior citizens in Odisha. He wished to portray the unique tradition, culture and folk arts of the village. The film Sala Budha shows the classic elements of the rural community. Sabyasachi Mohapatra has won International Jury Award and Sambhabana Oriya Cinema Award.
