Seeta Devi was born in 1912 as Renee Smith. She is one of the first silent film stars in India. This one-of-a-kind trilogy was inspired by three separate religions and based on three different Indian mythologies: The Light of Asia was inspired by Buddha's life, The Taj Mahal inspired Shiraz, and Prapancha Pash, also known as A Throw of Dice in English, was inspired by a Mahabharata story. Seeta Devi played the leading lady in all three films. Durgesh Nandini, Kapal Kundala, and Krishnakanter Will are her blockbuster films based on Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's classic novels. Renee Smith has a sister Percy Smith, and many believed that they both appeared as Seeta Devi, alternatively.
