Chetan Pandit hails from Dewas, Madhya Pradesh. He graduated from National School of Drama [NSD] in New Delhi from 1994 to1997 and was the barely student chosen from Madhya Pradesh in the year 1994 out of the 20 students from all over the country. He started in Amateur Theatre in 1988 in Dewas while completing his B.Sc., degree at Holkar Science College, Indore; and later, a PG Diploma in Photography and Videography in DAVV Indore. Then he continued his career in active theatre along with professionals.
Previously, he performed in several renowned theatre personalities and even had the chance to work with Polish Director, Peter Cheslak and a British Director, John Russel Brown. Then he went to different places in Manipur, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar while doing various plays and workshops. Chetan was given the opportunity to direct in Dhruv Swamini, the NSD’s repertory company’s production. He later developed Devasthali, a theatre group in Dewas. Then he begins to act, design and direct the mega production, Uttar Jo Prashn Ban Gaye that is based on the Herman Hess’ Siddarth in 1999.
Chetan appeared in Indian soap opera, Kahiin to Hoga that was broadcasted on Star Plus in 2003 to 2007 where he played as a convincing father to Aamna Shariff. Then he performed in Hindi TV serial, Ardhangini on Zee TV from 2007 to 2008. He also played the role of Vikramaditya in the Indian soap, Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna on Star Plus and on Zee TV’s Punar Vivah on 2012. Recently, Chetan was Laxminandan Vyas in the Indian soap, Saraswatichandra on Star Plus.
Aside from doing TV serials, Chetan became famous for his role in the movie, Loknayak in 2004. One of the movies he made that became very popular was the movie, Singham that hits the theatre in 2011. For all his hard work, He was also the Indian Representative for Colombo Theatre Festival Sri Lanka in 1997.
